About Nora

Meet the Artist Behind the Mosaics

"I see mosaics as painting with glass. I strive to create detailed works of art that evoke a love for nature and wildlife."

After leaving my full-time job in June, 2017 I began to pursue art full-time, and quickly discovered a passion for glass mosaic. Drawing inspiration from our natural environment, particularly the San Francisco Bay Area, it gives me great joy to create beautiful images of trees, flowers, fish, bugs and birds. My work focuses primarily on stained glass created with grout rather than lead, which allows me to work with much smaller pieces of glass to create detailed and delicate images. I also create mosaic works which are not translucent, and I particularly enjoy creating functional works of art such as birdbaths.

I also love to create art on walls, like the entryway mural featuring birds, leaves and branches.

My work has sold at crafts fairs, via Etsy and through many custom commissions. Commissions allow you the opportunity to collaborate with me to create a unique piece that represents something meaningful to you, and to feature it in your own home or office. Some of my most popular custom pieces are my custom mosaic tile fireplace surrounds.

"One of the best things about creating artwork is the opportunity to connect with people."

In the summer you'll usually find me working in my sunny backyard, where I can glance up to see the birds at the feeder or the birdbath. In the winter I'm inside my studio, happily cutting and gluing glass while listening to my favorite podcasts.
